The Master of Descriptions

“Well played… well played… well played..!!!”

A man walks through the wooden portal of entry of the cathedral, with gusto embroidered in his sleeves; dripping off from his black trimmed suit onto his sparkly calculated steps. Clasping his hands; still at the entrance, the light sets on his back from the outside, projecting a long silhouette from his toes through the aisle; Where, forefront, at the moment, the groom holds the bride ‘hind his back in protection. As sweat and fear knit their faces.

“Well played, Romeo, I never envisioned this as your last act in this little charade..”

The gathering, now in soft murmurs, all gazing back at the tall, dark and handsomely villainous of a man. His utterances articulated his confidence, that stemmed within. With barely, no time to synchronise the disruption or the little dismay that had now befell the newly weds, the gathering let the act unfold. And perhaps see wherever it led. The priest, who sense a demon in the midst, performed the sign of the crucifix, as part of his epicospal duties to oust the enemy.

“You were never Invited here, Jacob!! Please have your leave!!” The groom finally says something.

“Ooh please, don’t flirt yourself, I’m wherever I need to be… how did you play this one on me, Romeo?!”

The gathering, who now ‘came into a liking of this short masterpiece or rather a narrative to some extent, Held their phones and cameras flicked to capture the moment.

“Really, Romeo, I wanna know, Tell me…!”

“Jacob, she loves you not anymore..”

The bride, who had been silence, whispered something in his ears, along the lines of, don’t speak to him, it ain’t worth it. She pushed passed her husband to be, and came face to face with Jacob.

“Aah, she of the lovely face. Yet I never came here for her..”

“Then what Jake, if you never came here for me, then what did you came for?”

Jacob started to feel the need from June’s voice, that she somehow wanted him to take her from all these nightmares. He saw in her face a fright. Uncertainty. He felt thrilled that she made her feel something for him on her wedding day, and it didn’t matter if it was love or loathe. He stared at her musely, yet he couldn’t betray himself. He felt like laughing hysterically. To smile. To race to her. But he couldn’t betray his intentions.

“On the contrary,….” Jacob started and then stopped. He wondered how love can turn into a fright.

“…… you two deserves each other. After all, it’s a second hand heart that you got to love you.”

Nobody spoke back. Both the bride and the groom looked silliest standing at the aisle. They expected everything but not that.

“…..hey Romeo, I’m gonna sit here, and enjoy the show. Please continue, (pointing at the priest)”

No one could believe it. When the show just hit the climax, it came to unprecedented end. The gathering must have been disappointed. But Jacob, was known not to be trusted, he still held on to a wild card in his pocket. His last move. The gathering awaited for this, so they never did shut their cameras.

***********

“…and now I pronounce you husband and wife…. you may kiss the bride…”

At this moment, nobody stood, nobody clapped or cheered, for they had anticipated Jacob ‘ s next move. And that’s when it all happened. It was like a wrecking ball that broke bones and tore hearts vein by vein.

Jacob stood with a smirk on his face, from where he was sitted, and made it through the aisle where the newly weds stood. The groom gently pushed aside his bride, and approached Jacob with clenched fist, it was a hell of a one on one.

The gathering kept close watch. Cameras flicked. The bride held her mouth and felt a sharp pain in her womb, for she knew this was a clash unending.

As the two foes came close, both opened their arms and felt in another’s embrace.

*Jacob:* congratulations brother, how was my grand entry?

*Romeo:* thank you brother, it was heartbreaking, next time do stick to the script.

*Jacob:* (laughing) I had to edit some parts. Including the second hand heart. Needed to make it more real.

On the aisle, now smiling and perhaps cheering, June, came forth to hug Jacob,

*June:* (unto Jacob) Finally, we have done it. Thanks for your act Jake.

*Jacob:* we should do it more often.

*June:* perhaps at your own wedding.

Both hugged themselves, as Jacob removed car keys from his pockets,

“Congratulations both of you. Enjoy your honeymoon”

The gathering, well, I don’t know what to say for them, for as lost as they looked, their faces sounded like,

“Yeah, we enjoyed the show!”
