The Master of Descriptions

You could hurt him, and then smile about it. He always let you, ’cause your smile was all he ever needed to get through the pain. Your smile stupefied him. You were like a rat, that bites then eases away the pain. It really never mattered how he felt, for your happiness meant lots to him. Thats how selfless he was with you. Enough to forget about his own happiness. Now, nobody makes him feel that way. He misses you.

Do you recall those conversations you were meant to have, but you never did? ‘Cause he has never been easy at saying what’s on his mind, or telling you exactly how he felt. You could persuade him. Oh girl, you tried to see through him. He made you feel lonely in a relationship of two. You gave him calls, he ducked them. Picked up when he felt like. Rarely sent you a love message or just a normal text. You often wondered if he ever cared for you. Right now nobody minds him. And it’s cause of that, that he misses you.

You are in the big city. You and your girls be going out for shopping every weekend. Every evening you always get to the java. Take selfies and post them on your wall. You’ve got men cowering at your feet with CVs on their lips. But you can’t just approve of any. He messed you, and barely can you think about him. He’s got women tied around his zip, with proposals laced on the bras. Sometimes, he feels like going down on them just to prove to himself that he can move on from you. Sometimes, he takes selfies with them, and floss. He tells himself that all the apple tastes the same. True, but the type of tree makes all the difference.

Alone you’ll be in your room, and your fingers would be caressing your phone book. Thinking whether to call or text him, but afraid he’ll snob you like he used to. The women will walk out on him. He’ll stare at his phone, and he’d wish to text or call you. But afraid you’ll hurt him and smile about it. So you both, switch off the light, and head to sleep. When all you could type was, “I miss you.” Then it would all be fine. And God… God where are you in all those plans, for even Him, you missed him.

You missed the first day he met you. For you were never there. So probably, you haven’t met him yet.

And him, he missed the day you said goodbye. He wasn’t there. So probably to him, you never left.
