The Master of Descriptions

I imagine my life without you,

a place, somewhere in time

where we do not cross

each other’s mind.

Two worlds now,

so far a part

living separately,

a different turnout

will I still be thinking about you?

will someone else replace your fondness?

I wonder,

will all these moments we share,

the intimacy of it all,

one day feel like distant relatives

we only meet at funerals?

should I grieve now?

Or will you still be here,

in your rugged jeans,

nestled on a Maasai blanket,

sipping dawa,

listening intently,

always talking through a smile

of worlds reverberating in your words

your hands gesturing

whenever you speak about sound and light design?

And how will it feel,

to watch you dance in those rugged denim jeans

across the living room?

Will our perceptions of life still intersect?

Will we be having kids by then?

Will I still read your signs,

know the different pulse of your heartbeat,

translate every rhythm into words?

Or will we forever be parallel lines,

Traveling the same direction,

but never intersecting?
